Sandra Li-James is the Vice President, Quality, Best Practice, Education and Chief Nursing Executive at VHA Home HealthCare. A registered nurse, Sandra has over 25 years of progressive leadership experience guiding and engaging interprofessional teams and promoting excellence in clinical best practice, person-centred care and patient safety. She started her career at Hospital for Sick Children and held various roles at University Health Network before transitioning to home care in 2022.
Sandra has a deep passion for evidence-based practice and focuses on cultivating a safety and learning culture to optimize client and provider experiences. A compassionate leader, Sandra is committed to interprofessional relationship-building and teamwork, and believes in supporting and enabling point-of-care team members to promote quality excellence.
Sandra graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and holds a Master’s in Education focused on adult education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). She is an adjunct lecturer at the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto and co-chairs the Home Care Ontario/OCSA Nursing Practice Council.
